Dr. Dipak Jain

Dr. Dipak Chand Jain is the European President and Professor of Marketing at CEIBS (China Europe International Business School). Dr. Jain is a globally recognized marketing and innovation expert whose insights have inspired a generation of business leaders to pursue success with significance.


Dr. Jain’s influential career spans nearly four decades as an educator, a senior business school administrator, and a consultant to corporations and governments. Throughout his career, he had furthered a pedagogical model that combines academic excellence and business relevance to produce high-impact results with social significance.

Prior to being named Sasin’s Director in 2014, Dr. Jain served from 2011 to 2013 as Dean of INSEAD and former Dean of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management from 2001 to 2009. 

An award-winning scholar in his own right, he has published more than 60 articles in leading academic journals and has earned the prestigious John D.C. Little Best Paper Award. Among the many distinctions for his teaching and service, Dr. Jain received the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from the Prime Minister of India, an award that recognizes exceptional leadership contributions of overseas Indians.

Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS

Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Telangana State Government, India

Jayesh Ranjan is a member of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the 1992 batch and working in the state of Telangana. He holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Delhi University, a degree in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a Masters in Public Management from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. He has also done short courses in the University of Birmingham (on Environmental Policy Analysis), JICA training Institute, Tokyo (on lake remediation), London School of Economics (on Globalization and Leadership), Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University (in Public Policy), and Swedish Institute, Stockholm (on Sustainability and CSR). He is the All-India topper of his IAS batch of 1992. He was awarded World Bank’s Social Capital Visiting Scholarship in 2002 and the British Government’s Gurukul Chevening Scholarship in 2005. 

He has done international consultancy assignments for the World Bank, UN-ESCAP, Sedatu project of Mexico, and for international NGOs working for Youth Issues like YES, Inc of the USA and NMC from Italy. He is a part of the National Pool of Trainers in Leadership constituted by the Government of India, and is involved in training and mentoring newly recruited Civil Servants. Jayesh Ranjan is the Principal Secretary of the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments of the Telangana government. His assignment involves developing policy frameworks, attracting new investments, identifying opportunities of utilizing IT in various government processes, and promoting digital empowerment of the citizens. 


Dr. Larry Birnbaum

Professor, Computer Science, Northwestern University, USA

Dr. Birnbaum is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Northwestern University. His research and teaching focus on applied Artificial Intelligence, natural language processing (NLP), intelligent information systems, social media data analytics, machine learning, with applications to media and journalism.  A key focus is on methods for the automatic generation of content by machine, including specifically the automatic generation of narratives from data. 

Another important area of Larry's research is intelligent information systems, including models of automatic and contextual search and information diversity. A third focus is on preference predication and recommendation using social media data. More generally, projects in Larry's lab are aimed at automating and supporting all aspects of the "content pipeline," including research, content generation, content distribution, and user interaction with content.

Dr. Birnbaum holds an undergraduate, graduate and PhD degree in Computer Science from Yale University.

Dr. Shailesh Kumar

Chief Data Scientist, CoE AI/ML, Jio, India

Dr. Shailesh Kumar was formerly the Vice President at Ola Cabs where he worked on several computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and optimization issues in fleet management. He was also the Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Third Leap – an EdTech startup that uses AI to create personalized math guides. 

Prior to this, Dr. Kumar  worked at Google on a variety of products at Google involving Information Retrieval, Enterprise Search, Legal E-Discovery, Natural Language Understanding (Phrase Discovery, Word Sense Disambiguation), Computer Vision, Knowledge Graph Mining, Conversation Modelling, and Deep Learning on Text and Vision. His experience of creating AI based solutions ranges comprises multiple domains including finance, remote sensing, retail, knowledge graph, conversational computing and computer vision. 

Dr. Kumar holds a masters and PhD degree in AI from UT-Austin and B.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT-Varanasi.
